about
I wrote "Together" to put to a short film I’d written about an ambulance driver who gets cornered and attacked, later he gets called to a car accident and it’s his attacker he has to help. Lack of funds made me think of telling the story through music so I wrote a song. I asked John Bradley if he would put music to it. With his input the song began to take on a life of its own. When Mick McKillop joined he added the keyboard to it and to me it really took shape. It now stood alone as a song. To me it is a message to remind people that we have all come together and worked together through very extraordinary times. It’s shown us that we are all ‘Together’ as 1 race. Corona has no prejudices and neither should we. We have been reminded of the things that really matter and it’s not anything materialistic. It’s something we all have and can have for free. Compassion and love towards others. It what we have and miss the most. This is what the song is about and hopefully we remember this and use it as we move forward.
lyrics
Trying to find some hope, in these lost and lonely times,
Nothings ever gonna be the same I know.
Running round in circles, there's nowhere left to go,
All disconnected from the lives we own
But there's one thing we have
that they cant take away
That's the love we share
With all our friends from day to day
It's got us where they want us, there's nothing we can do
We have to carry on and follow all their rules,
So many signals coming through, that leave us all confused
so many scared and all alone, in solitude
But there's one thing we have
that they can't take away
That's the love we share
With all our friends from day to day
(spoken)
This no doubt, was a testing time
We stood together, we worked together and became 1 race
The Human race
We're in this together, we're in everything together
Let's remember and keep it going
